“Eye Contact”
Eye contact with strangers on the street can be quiet an electric moment - a direct line or say a direct connection between the photographer and the subject where curiosity, courage, and chance may meet. A single gaze has plenty of potential to reveal confidence, surprise, fatigue, defiance, or tenderness; it can freeze a private story in public space. Capturing that moment is about timing, anticipation, respect, and presence: noticing the look, choosing the frame, and letting the camera translate emotion and/or a short story into a successful image.
Use composition, light, and distance and wit to amplify the connection; let reflections, shadows, and background gestures support the face. Eye contact photography is not just about being necessarily a portrait - it’s a conversation without words. Enter SPG World's Annual Contest, that is inviting the Eye Contact themed entries, and share the moments that has the potential to stop us and take a second look. Submit now!
